Long queue on weekends. Traditional Hainanese curry rice. The braised pork belly is very nicely cooked, soft and savoury on the skin and thick cut. Squid is very fresh and soft. The best is the curry chicken gravy which is different from the main curry gravy they pour on the rice. Suggest to order a separate portion of chicken curry in a bowl to appreciate it more can be addictive.

Other tarts are pretty ok, a good treat once in awhile as they’re not cheap. Will I be back? Yes, when I’ve a craving for the tart again! 🙂

The stall’s specialty, however, is one-of-a-kind: it sells Cheese Skirt Burger a juicy beef patty topped with a crispy cheddar cheese skirt. Customer Testimonial
When coming up the escalator from the main entrance of the market, take the right wing to find the stall. The market is rather quiet with many stalls not opened when I was there on a Friday late afternoon.
Ordered the cheese skirt burger and the truffle mushroom and Swiss cheese burger. Did a set with fries and salad. The burger beef patties are thick and juicy.
For the cheese skirt, I like the toasted crispy cheese. I used the knife to cut it and combine it with the burger. Toasted cheese gives a nice twist of flavour to the usual melted cheese.
For the truffle mushroom, the balance of flavour with the rocket, truffle mushroom, beef patty and cheese is done well.
The sides are good. Nothing fancy but good compliments to the burger.
Value for money for its price. Overall worthwhile.

Established in 1958, this is the famous Jian Bo Tiong Bahru Shui Kueh which made it to the MICHELIN Guide Bib Gourmand for several years. They have quite a number of outlets across Singapore but I think this is probably the best.
The chai po and heh bee (pickled radish & shrimp paste) in chilly oil blends very well with the rice cake.
Disappointingly, this shop accepts CASH only despite its franchise.

You’ll need to get there early in the morning and be patient while waiting in a line. However, their freshly cooked char siew and siew yoke are well worth the wait. You may have the char siew and roast pork over rice or noodles with a thick, savory sauce.

PS. Cafe is a well-known restaurant with beautiful cafe interiors and delicious cuisine. The PS. Cafe Petit market is a little smaller and more casual than the original outlet, which offers hassle-free service — customers order at the counter and select their own bottle of wine. The take-out boxes are also available, as well as self-service water. You will love the cozy ambience of this Tiong Bahru cafe, which will make it one of your favorites!
For nourishment, look for well-known favorites like the Green Goddess Pizza and crusty Black Garlic Bread, as well as rich sweet dishes like their Death by Chocolate cake and Sticky Date Toffee Pudding. These are great with a cup of coffee for brunch, or a glass (or two) of wine for dinner. To save time waiting, go to their website and place an advanced order at PS. Cafe Petit if you’re going to pick up a take-out!

Very courteous staff. Beautiful decor. Lots of bottles of wine and champagne to buy and drink on the spot or take home. Speaking of take home, all food ordered here comes in to go boxes but you can eat it on the premises. Same goes for the coffee. It’s a bit quirky but apparently it’s a neighborhood licensing issue. But the ambience makes up for it. Be sure to admire the huge slices of cake on display and if you’re feeling like splurging (those are per slice prices) I’m sure they are delicious.

When the sun goes down, however, that’s when the magic happens. This cafe undergoes a complete metamorphosis and transforms into an open-concept yakitori restaurant with its copper hues and the sensation that you’ve stumbled upon a hidden spot. You’ve got the feeling of a lifetime when you combine it with the old-school music.
