Shinji by Kanesaka is a well-known sushi restaurant in Singapore, and it has received numerous critical accolades outside of Japan.
The most expensive option is the Omakase Shin, which includes appetizer, premium sashimi, cooked dishes, sushi, soup, and Japanese fruit.
The next level up, the Omakase Wa includes ‘ordinary’ sashimi instead of the “premium” variety. If splurging is a problem, there’s an Edomae Sushi set with 15 nigiri.
The pinkish Chutoro (medium fatty tuna) is so fresh it might actually slide down the throat, Otoro (tuna belly) has a wonderful sirloin taste, and again Akami (red meat), which had almost a tuna-like texture.

Chef Kenny san served us three times in a span of a month. Ingredients are fresh, perfectly paired, and meticulously aged. We especially love the addictive signature smoked albacore wrapped with a crisp nori. The omakase-only menu is good value and you can opt for the dinner version during lunch if you want to splurge a little. Try their homemade ume wine too; it’s prepared a year in advance from ume season in June. We are taking a break for a while so we can try new seasonal stuff next time. Go say hi to Chef Kenny for us! This location is new for them and I’m glad the hubby stumbled on it randomly even if the first visit was with another woman (ex-colleague)

Chef Hamamoto, the proprietor of Ki-sho, was formerly head chef at Kyoto’s top culinary establishments and one of Singapore’s best restaurants.
Along Scotts Road, the lovely Ki-sho is housed in a magnificent colonial mansion with a 10-seater sushi bar and various private rooms adorned with distinctively artistic Japanese features such as hand-laid flooring and gold leaf wallpaper.
Japanese cuisine at the superb establishment is available in two distinct Omakase set menus priced at a couple hundred per person.
This isn’t the cheapest restaurant in town, but it’s not far off. We can see why it stands out when compared to other top-tier Japanese restaurants available locally.
The most appealing and indulgent dish was the Uni and Cavier, which included creamy Hokkaido sea urchin, exquisite Italian caviar, shiso flower, and corn on a wasabi leaf. It looked like the ecstatic blossoming of flowers in Japan during springtime

This is a fantastic spot to visit if you’re looking for an unrivalled Japanese dining experience.. The owners of the Feather Blade, another superb restaurant, have brought us this 36-seat restaurant, where handroll sushi omakase dining is available at reasonable rates.
The 20-meter-long quartz bar in this industrial-chic setting is a perfect spot to enjoy a six-course sushi meal. Ingredients such as tuna belly, fluke fin, and amberjack are likely to show up.
Of course, the experience won’t be completed without sake or any Japanese-inspired cocktails too!

Located in the heart of Downtown, Takayama Japanese Restaurant is a multi-course restaurant that serves a variety of authentic Japanese delights.
This is a “kappo-style” restaurant, similar to a Keiseki meal where intricately prepared dishes that resemble works of art are served.
Chef Takayama is a veteran of three Michelin-starred restaurants Kashiwaya and Koryu in Osaka, both of which have earned prestige in their fields.
The “Otsukuri” is the second dish to look forward to. While it simply means sashimi, I was served a combination of expertly curated ingredients with a couple of additions – each item meticulously arranged and paired with distinct soy sauces to get an umami flavor.

I love the food and the service over there. The chefs and waitresses were welcoming and polite and the ambiance was comfortable and cozy. The food was extremely delectable and delicious; the chawanmushi were sweet (sea urchin) and savory (egg with grass jelly). Sashimi was fresh and the wasabi was handmade so the whole quality of the sashimi was good. Lastly, the deserts were delicious, especially the matcha baked cake, I love that because it was not too sweet.

Sushi Kou is a new style of sushi that redefines Edomae-style sushi, in which the freshest fish and shellfish are prepared with minimal treatment. This method brings out the food’s natural tastes and oils, unlike other methods of sushi making.
Sushi Kou is a restaurant in Singapore with the same name as its founder’s son, Kou. Chef Yoshio Sakuta, who has 20 years of expertise, runs the place with the aim of offering something completely new to his customers. This Hokkaido-born chef worked at several star sushi businesses in Sapporo.

They are posh on pricing, two can expect to spend at least a thousand dollars here after food & drinks especially if order sake or wine. The restaurant’s interior is comparable to that of a high-end sushi eatery, with the sushi chefs creating meals in full view of guests at a counter constructed from 200-year-old cypress trees.
The restaurant’s specialty is tuna and sea-urchin. Only the freshest selections of the season are provided to guests since items are purchased directly from Japan and flown in four to five times a week.

one of the top sushi restaurant in Singapore and definitely worthy of its Michelin star. Everything was immaculate from service to food. My glass was never at any point empty; the service staff made sure that all 8 of us always had our glasses with wine/sake. I really like their nodoguro and kamatoro. Only thing if I were to have any complaints about is their sake. The list is not very comprehensive, and mostly of the same type of profile; aromatic, elegant and sweet (to varying degree). Also their mark up for their sake is pretty staggering too. Like for example the nabeishima cost about S$80 retail but it’s just under S$300 in their menu. Even if I go to a similar standard restaurant like kisho, I think they probably no more than S$200.
Overall, I’d say food is exquisite and well worth its price tag but I will go easy on the beverage.

For any first timer, the waiter can give a good recommendation based on the number of diners. Don’t be mistaken for the small portion, the idea is not to fill your stomach, but to experienced each of the order you’ve made, so be prepared to make a few orders. It is somewhat like the Japanese version of Spanish tapas.
And we have since went back again and again. These are Japanese finery to be experience.

Finally a review after multiple visits. Fat Cow never disappoints. I’m a beef/steak lover and I can say Fat Cow ranks number 1 for me.
