Since 2013, when he tried mead on his trip to London, co-founder Sanjay Jegatheesan’s passion for mead has blossomed.

It began as a search for high-quality mead in Singapore, but he and his buddy Justin Herson decided to create their own. They produce spiced mead, which has undertones of cinnamon, cloves, and star anise, among other things. The chrysanthemum mead is the way to go if you’re looking for something sweeter.

With new yet recognizable tastes, go off the beaten path. As examples, take Kiam Sng Di and Kopi O Nanyang Stout.

The first is a refreshing plum gose with guava undertones, a tribute to the local custom of eating sliced guava with sour plum powder, and the second is a homage to Singaporean coffee.

Furthermore, we couldn’t help but admire how well the Singaporean motifs were used as cover art.

Ren Min is a local business that was formerly known as 3rd Culture Brewing and began operations in 2016. They first opened their taproom in Maxwell Food Centre, where they served international craft beer, and then expanded to Old Airport Road Food Centre.

After being known as SiB for three years, the pair decided to change their name last year. They’re now known as Ren Min, which means “red wine” in Chinese. They plan to start their own brewery down the road after rebranding. While the plant is still under construction, Ren Min is producing beer in a number of locations.

Their second and most recent batch of beers is produced in Vietnam, where they offer three IPAs – a session, hazy, and smoothie-style – as well as a stout. The names range from Cloud Chasing to Kiss Kiss, which the brewery claims are a homage to the basic pleasures in life that have been temporarily taken away from us.

Key Differentiators

  • Modern craft brewery
  • Located in Singapore’s two most famous hawker centres
  • Offers good food too

Buyer’s Review

So just tried out there delivery service. Have to give them massive points for doing this over the lockdown, no automation so this must be an absolute nightmare. My five crowlers turned up no problem and looking forward to drink them all once the kids are in bed. Once we are released will head down to their bar at old airport road, hopefully there is a veggie stall down there to keep the wife happy.
