The curry puffs are yet another must-try at this cafe. When you go here for your kopi, make sure you try the curry puffs. This breakfast favorite may not be the greatest when it comes to distributing those puffs, but they’re plenty good enough to keep you warm. Just like your favorite makcik.

Get the tissues ready for this is going to be a bit messy. The flaky pastry of Polar’s puffs is crispy and buttery (best you enjoy it while it’s still warm!). Plus it has chicken and potato mush in the creamy filling.

The lovely layered crust, folded to perfection by hand, gets extra puff points because it is the only Michelin Bib Gourmand awardee on the list. For this fragrant combination of curried potatoes and chicken, there’s no skimming on the filling; it’s jam-packed with flavor. The light and crispy crust complement the curry filling.

Key Differentiators

  • Handcrafted
  • Fragrant combination
  • Jam-packed with flavor

Customer Testimonial

Most probably the best Curry Puff in Singapore and one of 2 curry puff stalls listed in MICHELIN Guide 2021 Singapore Bib Gourmand Selection.

Unlike the usual fried curry puffs, J2’s crispy curry puffs flakes out like any western puff pastry. The potato filling is grind to a creamy paste and it melts in your mouth.

Highly recommended

Tender, steamy chicken and potato dumplings with a mouth-watering spicy filling at Tip Top are worth trying (though they could stand to lose some chicken skin and gain more egg). The dough of the crust is on the sweeter side, so it might be a hit or a miss depending on your taste.

Key Differentiators

  • Traditional yet unique taste
  • Inspired by local Asian flavours
  • Famous handmade curry puffs

Customer Testimonial

One of the best Curry Puffs in Singapore!

Started in 1979 in the heartlands of Blk 722 Ang Mo Kio serving handmade curry puffs to its residents, Tip Top Curry Puff has now grown to a chain of a few outlets, 6 when I last counted.

The chicken & potato original curry puffs and the beef rendang curry puffs are my favourites although they have followed Old Chang Kee in offering an array of Singapore snacks like chicken wings and ngoh hiangs.

One bite of the curry puff, however, should certainly do it. Its fragrant crust isn’t overly flaky, and it’s larger than the typical puff, allowing us to have more fun. The thick potato filling has a little bit more kick to it than most puffs; nevertheless, it’s delectable and will keep you full for a long time.

Key Differentiators

  • Famous
  • Great Service
  • Thick Fillings

Customer Testimonial

Thin crispy curry puff, freshly made on the spot daily! I never eat the commercial ones after eating these! They have increased their prices maybe last year. So it’s worth a try if you have never had them, then you judge for yourself if the freshness and quality is worth the price. I still love to eat them occasionally, especially if I crave for curry puff!

The popularity of Yang’s Epok-Epok’s curry puffs stems from a family secret recipe that has been passed down three generations. The business, which is relatively new, was founded in 1993.

Customer Testimonial

My eating buddy agreed that it is strangely addictive. Yes it is oily. It is also tad salty. But somehow the combination hit home. Couldn’t stop munching on it. They are smallish …and at 60cents per piece don’t be expecting it to be packed with proteins. Will return for sure. Epik with soto ayam sounds divine.

1A Crispy Puffs is a long-standing curry puff stall with a history dating back over 30 years. It’s clear how much we love their fantastic crispy dishes simply by looking at the fact that it has expanded to five locations throughout Singapore.

Key Differentiators

Can’t go wrong with their curry puffs flaky and
delicious , but I enjoy the curry chicken with the bread more. This is all I can think about while I was suffering in -20° winter in Winnipeg. This bowl of curry is all I dream of and long for, and I can enjoy it now that I’m back.

The stall of Bib Gourmand’s award-winning Rolina restaurant, which features both Traditional Hainanese Curry Puffs (chicken, potato, and egg) and Sardine Puffs, was a favorite. Each curry puff – golden, crisp, melt-in-your-mouth is made by hand with spices to the crimps on its crust.

Key Differentiators

  • Traditional Hainanese Curry Puff
  • Two Outlets
  • Loved Curry Puffs

Customer Testimonial

Love the curry puffs here. Thin and chewy pastry with strong curry flavored fillings, mostly potato, with a bite of chicken and slice of egg. I like the bite of it as it’s not flaky and less oily than other curry puffs around. The size is a bit small so I usually eat 2 at one go. The person manning the stall is polite and chatty. I usually buy enough to eat over 2 days and it still tastes good one day later. Of course it’s best to eat them hot as they usually make multiple fresh batches over the morning.

The curry puff’s exterior is not appealing, but one bite of the curry puff turns that notion upside down. It’s chock-full of age-old recipe curry and fillings, which are more than enough to knock you out.

Key Differentiators

  • Famous stall
  • Age-old recipe
  • Tasty curry puff

Customer Testimonial

Superb curry puff at $1.30 each. The crust is thinner than the usual you get elsewhere. Mildly spicy potato mix.

Most importantly, it’s freshly made.

The genuine handmade curry puff should not be missed – freshly prepared by hand and served piping hot. Many people drool over the crusty exterior and moist interior of this dish, which is a delight to eat. Try their durian puffs if you want something really special.

Key Differentiators

  • Original seashell curry puff
  • Crusty exterior
  • Moist interior

Customer Testimonial

Quaint place. Kopi was robust. Curry puff not oily, thin pastry with full filling. Same with the peanut ball. Both cost a tad more than other joints but imho it’s worth it. Mee Siam is good; huge serving and tasty gravy. Curry chicken rice was so-so. Will return for puffs and kopi.
