1) Hung Cheung

Website | https://hungcheung.com.au/ |
Phone | +61 2 9560 4681 |
Operating Hours | Daily 10AM–9:30PM |
Hung Cheung, in the inner city of West Melbourne, is without a doubt one of the greatest brunch choices. The quality and diversity of dim sum served here are exceptional, but the service isn’t really anything to write home about.
Key Differentiators:
- Offers dishes for vegetarians
- Efficient service
- Good standard yum cha quality
Customer’s Review:
Lovely customer service from the team who were serving the food! Unfortunately the restaurant was slightly understaffed so sometimes when we asked for something such as soy sauce with chilli, we were forgotten! Tea does cost you $2 per head! Other than that, would visit again, the dishes were authentic and delicious and the food came out hot and immediately! Really loved the flavour of the tea as well!

2) Iron Chef Chinese Seafood Restaurant
Key Service | One of the largest yum cha restaurants |
Address | 84 Broomfield Street Cabramatta, NSW, Australia 2166 |
Website | https://www.facebook.com/Iron.Chef.Restaurant/ |
Phone | +61 2 9723 6228 |
Operating Hours | Monday: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM, 5:30 PM – 10:00 PM |
When you’re in Cabramatta, Sydney’s “Little Vietnam,” try ordering a Vietnamese iced coffee instead of the Chinese tea. The siu mai, steamed dumplings (filled with pork, prawn, or vegetable) are all excellent and well prepared at one of the biggest yum cha restaurants . If you’re in the mood for some fried or grilled food, try the roast pork belly (peking duck is only available on certain days) or fried calamari.
Key Differentiators:
- Served at round tables with lazy Susans
- Offers 10% off on weekends
- Wide variety of yum cha and specials
Customer’s Review:
Family favourite. Quite busy if you go at lunch time but the wait for a table is never too long. Good variety of dishes and quick service. One star off as I find the tastiness of the dishes are not always consistent on visits.

Zilver is known for its efficiency. This eatery, located on the first floor, is quick to seat you and serve you. There appears to be a lot of business lunches going on around us. When you’re near the kitchen, service is especially quick – they have trolley gridlock one point with two steamer trolleys, a fried cart, and a Chinese broccoli station, all of which served pre-cooked green bales under plastic lids rather than the hot pots that they plunge the veggies into as you wait.
Key Differentiators:
- Amazing services at reasonable price
- Decent selection of food
- Fast Service
Customer’s Review:
Really great yum cha experiences: will say one of my favourites. Dishes have a real freshness and the service was great: friendly and as you would expect quick. Just loved it.

The foyer of the Canterbury League Club, which features a waterfall, fake tiki torches, real indoor plants, and a lagoon, is worth seeing just for the beautiful indoor rainforest. 6) Mr Wong
Key Service | Lavish French-colonial setting |
Address | 3 Bridge Lane Sydney, NSW, Australia 2000 |

Phone | +61 2 9114 7317 |
Operating Hours | Daily: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM, 5:30 PM – 10:00 PM |
Mr. Wong is a great example of one of Merivale’s top chefs, Dan Hong, who created a contemporary and fresh take on traditional yum cha in Sydney. This isn’t like any other place on the list because it has some standards with just a little variation to them. The prawn toast with foie gras and sesame is an excellent illustration of that. Don’t worry, all of Mr. Wong’s lunchtime-only dim sum menu features classics like barbecue pork buns, spinach dumplings, and silky cheung fun (rice noodle roll).
Key Differentiators:
- Serves vegetarian options
- Serves great cocktails
- Courteous staff
Customer’s Review:
Mr. Wong has got to be one of the best restaurants for whatever occasion. The food here was absolutely delicious and the portions did not disappoint. We had several doggy bags!

One of the few dim sum places remaining in northern Sydney. We were sat in a room away from crowded common area. I was worried we won’t get the dim sum carts coming by. The server assured me he would make sure we got all dishes we wanted, and we did! Good customer care. It was on the pricy side, but it seems to be the case for dim sum places.
