Best Craft Beers Melbourne
Best Craft Beers Melbourne

Craft beer, by definition, is beer brewed in a small, independent brewery (producing fewer than 2 million barrels per year) with a little more love and magic, rather than being mass-produced by one of the few big beer makers that fill grocery stores. Taste is one of the most significant advantages that good craft beers provide to the 48 percent of consumers who prefer beer for their alcohol usage. With this in mind, you should be aware of the greatest venues that provide the finest craft beers Melbourne has to offer.

Wolf of the Willows is a brewery founded in November 2014 by Scotty and Renae McKinnon. They are passionate about creating handcrafted, contemporary ales that are distinct in quality, flavor, and character – what they term ‘Ales of Distinction.’ Their fulfillment comes from transforming raw, natural components into beers they enjoy drinking. They are proud of the fact that they brew the beer, bottle the beer, and do everything else. Hop Nation began as a pipe dream for us, and like with most pipe dreams, the initial aim was to test the waters with a little funds while keeping our day jobs. They set up the firm, came up with a name and label design with some pals, laid down their first IPA brew, and released THE FIEND back in May of 2015. As it turns out, people were quite thirsty for THE FIEND and wanted more – always a good thing. They were really lucky to collaborate with some fantastic brewing businesses to gypsy brew their following four brews. As a result, they have some of the finest craft beers Melbourne has to offer.

Key Differentiators:

  • IPA’s

“A really good selection of beers and really friendly and accomodating staff. We didn’t book, but they still managed to arrange some seating upstairs for us. The House Tasting Paddle was particularly good, with some definite favourites on there already. It can be quite difficult to find down a side alley, but this only adds to the style. Would highly recommend the Mango Gose!”

Tommy began with one little tank and a handful of new kegs filled by hand every few weeks. Fresh IPA kegs were delivered to a few select Collingwood and Fitzroy establishments. They eventually added another tank, then another, brewing and polishing only one product, Fixation IPA, until they established their brewery and innovation facility, The Incubator, in 2018. Collingwood, Melbourne, Victoria. It all started with a desire for fresh IPA in Australia, and for most brewers, IPA was an afterthought. Not here, at least. The fixation is IPA. The beer style that genuinely delights us. As a result, they have some of the finest craft beers Melbourne has to offer.

Beers are like metaphors for us: weighty and meaningful. That’s why they cater to beer enthusiasts: Traditional brewing of beer, complete with monk robes, chanting, and a dark cellar, all under the watchful eye of a rigid religious doctrine: beer for beer’s sake, quietly fulfilling a vital function for the residents of the twenty-first century community. The world and the territory they seek to recognize and conserve are framed by these time-honored customs, and they apply these guiding principles to the brewing of real, lasting beer. As a result, they have some of the finest craft beers Melbourne has to offer.
