Beach Vacation
Are you planning on taking a beach vacation soon? If so, there are a few things you need to remember.
The beach can be a lot of fun, but it can also be dangerous if you’re not careful. In this blog post, we will discuss some of the most important things to keep in mind when taking a beach vacation.
Whether you’re swimming in the ocean or just relaxing on the sand, these tips will help make your trip more enjoyable and safe!
1. Choose the appropriate bag
The best travel bag for your beach vacation will mostly rely on your preferences, how much you want to pack, and whether you prefer checked luggage or a carry-on backpack. Travel bags come in a huge variety of patterns and designs. Always choose a lightweight, sturdy, and comfortable backpack as a general guideline. After all, you’re going to spend the majority of your time at the beach, so it wouldn’t be ideal to carry a large suitcase around.
Consideration should be given to the beach backpack’s materials. The type of bags you should get are made of mesh or nylon. Additionally, your bag should be noticeable in the throng so that it is simpler to discover in case you lose sight of it. To do this, use patterned beach backpacks or colors that are easy to detect.
2. Pack your essentials separately
To prevent them from getting mixed up with other items and to make them easier to find when you need them, your accessories and toiletries should be packed in a separate bag.
To stop leaks, you can place the bottles in a zipper bag or sandwich a piece of plastic wrap between the lids and the openings. Additionally, make an effort to swap out liquid toiletries for solid ones to minimize weight and prevent leaks, such as using soap in place of body wash.
3. Put your personal items in a separate bag
Keep your personal stuff close at hand if you want to stay organized while traveling. If necessary, you might create a sublist just for these personal items to organize them since they are simple to overlook.
This “extra bag” might be a small fanny pack to carry your essentials on a plane, or it could be a beach bag to carry your phone, wallet, and key card when you’re out having fun in the sun.
4. Don’t forget to protect your skin
To ensure you won’t run out, get a fresh bottle of sunscreen and make sure to check the expiration date. The Skin Cancer Foundation advises applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher to protect against UVA and UVB rays. They advise using a water-resistant, broad-spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or greater when engaging in prolonged outdoor activities.
If your skin is delicate or prone to breakouts, you might want to use two separate sunscreens—one for your face and one for your body. More and more sunscreen companies are providing different formulas for sensitive skin on the body and face.
5. Don’t go directly under sunlight from 10 AM to 4 PM
To enjoy the sun and sand while preserving your skin, pick a chair with built-in shade or pack your own beach umbrella and/or pop-up canvas tent. In addition to offering built-in shade, broad-brimmed hats may protect your scalp (and, if you color your hair, the color of your hair) and create a chic fashion statement.
6. Wear sunglasses
Your eyelids, cornea, and other eye structures are all extremely vulnerable to UV light damage from the sun. For good eye protection, it’s critical to look for sunglasses that block 99 to 100 percent of UVA and UVB radiation. Read the labels thoroughly and avoid purchasing sunglasses that don’t specify how much UV protection they offer. A style with larger lenses will offer the highest UV protection; a wraparound style will offer the most eye protection.
7. Bring your medicines
On a beach vacation, it’s likely that you’ll play volleyball or Frisbee, take a lengthy walk down the beachfront (without realizing how much more of a workout it is than walking on a hard surface), or carry so much luggage to and from the shore that your shoulders and back begin to ache.
Perhaps you experienced delays with your flight or had issues checking into your hotel. You’ll be happy you brought some aspirin and/or ibuprofen (or another painkiller) with you to treat any headaches or relieve painful or stiff muscles.
8. Don’t forget a first-aid kit
It’s a good idea to have a small first-aid kit with you, especially in a waterproof bag, that includes some bandages, first aid cream, sterile gauze bandages and tape, alcohol wipes, etc.
A nice option is one with tweezers and an elastic bandage to wrap an injured ankle or wrist.
