Grana is a bakery and all-day eatery on the ground floor of the historic Hinchcliff House in Circular Quay. Customer’s Review:

Beautiful dinner. Both of us loved our pasta. The house made bread was delicious, and the tiramisu is perfect. It’s also big enough to share! Lovely service.

The Bakehouse’s design has an edgy, cool-kid vibe to it that complements its wacky croissant dishes. Baker James Sideris is all about boundary-pushing tastes— think truffle ham croissant with a truffle goat’s cheese spread, comtĂ© cheese, and caramelized onion, as well as a Middle Eastern-inspired eggplant dish with hummus, zaatar, and jalapeno.

Key Differentiators:

  • Very cosy and cute place
  • Fantastic selection of pastries

Customer’s Review:

Made a trip from the West to Manly to visit this bakehouse! Although the croissant was sold out, we tried the Berry Danish and Sausage Roll. The pastry was very crisp and light. Personally prefer the sausages to be more intact, but the flavours in the Danish were nicely balanced! It’s worth a visit.

Iggy’s, the Yugoslavian-born Igor Ivanovic’s renowned bakery, is all about bread—and the no-frills shopfront with queues for days will persuade you otherwise. Iggy’s defies tradition by keeping the interiors unadorned and the bread consistently outstanding. The bread is also excellent—incredible, in fact. It would be impolite not to grab a bagful of Iggy’s croissants while on your weekly bread run.

Key Differentiators:

  • Renowned for its bread
  • No-frills shop
  • Consistently outstanding bread

Customer’s Review:

I’ve been hearing about this place for a while now, and not sure why I’ve never been until now. It’s now my new favourite bakery. You name it, they have it and it’s amazing. The pull-apart bread st the counter, the chocolate croissants, plain croissants, spelt loaf. It’s incredible! Get in early though, it’s popular and there are decent lines.

There’s a lot going on at this triple act all-day eatery, which is well worth visiting for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It includes a bakery and restaurant, bistro, and traiteur. The Loulou’s boulangerie in Covent Garden, which is created by head baker Brendon Woodward (ex-Chouquette Boulangerie, Bread Ahead Bakery London), starts the day with flaky croissants. However, if you’re looking for wimpy croissants, start your day at Loulou.

Customer’s Review:

Love having Loulou in the Milsons Plint neighborhood! So yummy. Love almost every item there and I almost always have a friendly encounter there! Croissants are one of the best in town – definitely get it in the morning. I love the tarts too – cherry tart woohoo. Burnt cheesecake is great too and I love the single person version.

AP Bakery has two permanent locations: Carriageworks Farmers Market and the top of Paramount House, where its recent pop-up, AP House, is located. Key Differentiators:

  • Delicious food and coffee
  • Friendly service
  • Serves all-day breakfast menu

Customer’s Review:

Take the elevator to the rooftop. Delicious food and coffee. Burger and bacon egg roll were sooo good. Hash brown was crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. The plain croissant was chewy and so flaky. Come early for pastries.

The crew behind Porteño, Humble Bakery, has been taking Sydneysiders to carb heaven with its selection of pastries, including some magnificent croissants, since the day it opened. The basic croissant, on the other hand, is anything but. Beautifully golden and airy in appearance, it has a honeycomb-textured interior that will make you wonder whether or not you should stop eating. La Renaissance, a mainstay of Sydney’s pastry scene and founded by a classically trained chef and pñtissier nearly 50 years ago, certainly knows a thing or two about croissants. Its plain, almond, and chocolate croissants are made fresh every day.The vanilla crùme patisserie from La Renaissance, which is filled with layers of light, fluffy, laminated dough, comes across as bougie—it’s a hazy dreamlike cream pastry encased in delicate layers of dough.
