1. Niqqi’s The Cheese Prata Shop

Key ServicesRestaurant
Address16 Clementi Rd, Singapore 129745
Websitehttps://www.facebook.com
Phone+65 6872 2577
Operating HoursOpen 24 hours

Niqqi’s is no stranger to night owls on the West Coast. The pratas are somewhat doughier here, so crispy prata lovers should avoid and try Maggi Goreng with Egg instead. This is a tasty dish that’s neither too greasy nor lacking in flavor. If you like cheese prata, you’ll be happy to learn that they use stringy mozzarella in this dish, so snap a photo!

Key Differentiators

  • Coffee shop
  • Food Stand
  • Night-owl favorite

Customer Testimonial

50 over varieties of Prata – what more do you need to try out this amazing eatery. Food is delicious and it doesn’t burn a hole in our pocket.

Daisy Tan is the daughter of Daisy, owner and chef at Daisy’s Dream Kitchen. Aside from that, this is where you’ll discover some of the best Peranakan cuisine in Singapore. Of course, buah keluak is a must-have at any Peranakan restaurant. The most popular dishes, according to the crowd, include Black Ink Sotong, Ngoh Hiang, and Beef Rendang.

Key Differentiators

  • Peranakan and Local Delights
  • Closed on Mondays
  • Family Style Restaurant

Customer Testimonial

Was gifted lunch today from Daisy’s Dream Kitchen by my student. I would like to say a very big thank you to his parents for gifting lunch cos the food is so so so good. And I am very particular about the taste of peranakan food. The sambal belachan did it for me. So super spicy shiok! 5 thumbs up! I’m already planning to go down to have dinner with my friends soon!

Friday to Sunday:

Dario, tucked next to more budget-friendly eateries like prata and nasi lemak, would not be your first choice for a dinner. However, Dario’s modest Italian restaurant serves wonderful handmade thin crust pizzas, pastas, and Italian desserts at reasonable costs.

The most basic ones have few toppings and are oven-baked while the more intricate pizzas with ham, salami, or multiple cheeses are baked in a wood- fired oven. Burratina arrives with a tasty, creamy ball of burrata cheese and savoury parma ham and arugula for an Italian meal.

Key Differentiators

  • Gastropub
  • Real Italian pizza
  • Pizza, Drink, & More

Customer Testimonial

hidden gem!! waitresses were super friendly and service was very fast. pizza was good, value for money (1 pizza can be shared within 2 people) would be good if they had more options for drinks tho :”) but i really liked the mint tea

4. He Ji Braised Duck

Key ServicesHawker stall
Address726 Clementi West Street 2, #01-162, Singapore 120726
Operating HoursThursday to Tuesday: 8AM–5PM

West Coast Market Square is home to a number of delicious roast meat stalls with long snaking queues during lunch and dinner hours. If you have to pick one of them, know that tender braised duck and flavourful gravy at He Ji is definitely worth the wait. Duck Rice Set Meal comes with braised duck, tau kwa and egg covered in a robust gravy sitting atop a mound of soy sauce-flavoured rice.

At Kway Chap, the rich herbal soup is complemented with a large portion of simmered pork belly and intestines that soak up the dark sauce nicely. Their home-made chilli isn’t to be missed! The hae bee hiam-based chilli paste is mixed with a watery, somewhat sour, and garlicky.

Key Differentiators

  • Famous hawker stall
  • Generous servings
  • Rich herbal soup

Customer Testimonial

Favorite duck stall! Kway chap is always such a HUGE portion, sauce is savory and thick, to my liking. I use to come here every week in 2021 when I was more free… Standards maintained throughout the year. This portion showed here is $4

5. Ah Hoe Mee Pok

Key ServicesCoffee shop
Address501 W Coast Dr, Food Loft Coffee Shop, Singapore 120501
Websitehttps://www.meepok.com.sg/
Emailahhoemeepok@gmail.com
Operating HoursTuesday to Sunday: 6AM–8PM

Unlike other BCM stalls, Ah Hoe Mee Pok is run by a Japanese father-daughter team wearing mee pok turbans around their necks, as genuine Singaporeans would. Most of us are used to bak chor mee with an inadequate amount of pork or braised mushrooms, but the ones here are packed with so many goodies.

Traditional mee pok, or Japanese Fusion Mee Pok if you’re daring. You may choose between a miso or shoyu base for both soups and dry dishes, as well as slices of chashu!

Key Differentiators

  • Original Ah Hoe Mee Pok
  • Long time in the business
  • Generous portions

Customer Testimonial

Easily one of the mee pok in the West and probably in Singapore. Always a long queue closer to lunch, expect to wait at least for half an hour.

The mee pok was different from the rest, slightly thicker and more Q. It gave a nice bite when you chewed the noodles.

The prawn paste balls were another unusual find. It was sweet and tasty, goes really well the their chilli sauce!

Bread Yard has a basic aesthetic. The bread baking area had been converted into additional dining space.

Bread Yard, located on Main Street, is a bakery and café that specializes in artisan breads. They appear to be wholesalers for other restaurants. Bread Yard had a constant stream of visitors despite the fact that most of the open restaurants on Saturday were quiet. It was nice and lively without being crowded.

The restaurant is managed by young people too!

Everything’s excellent here. Price point is reasonable with very big portion! Mains are all under $20. Coffee is good too. It’s at Galaxis, One North. Had my brunch there this morning. There’s also a bicycle park right next to the building. I remember they have very nice pastries as well. If you are around that hood, give them a try.
