Customer Review

The 8 colour dumplings are always the highlight at paradise dynasty. The kids meal portion is huge and can even make an adult full. The sour and spicy soup is super nice and the must try will be the ę°“ē…®éš. Itā€™s numb and spicy enough. I like all the la Mian dishes from there as well, especially the fried rice. The Shanghai traditional dim sum is also authentic as well.

Swee Choon, one of Singaporeā€™s oldest dim sum restaurants, will always deliver xiao long bao correctly. Firm but not hard, with a delicious broth thatā€™ll make you exclaim ā€œyummm,ā€ these delights have a filling to them. This is our favorite late-night snack stop after the party because of this.

Key Differentiators:

  • Established in 1962
  • Islandwide delivery till 1am

Customer Review

Old school dim sum place ā€“ super quick service, great food and value, very casual atmosphere.

I have regularly visited this place for the past year and recommend their shrimp egg fried rice (only available for dinner) chive pancakes (only available for dinner), Har Gao, Xiao Long Bao, fried shrimp dumplings with Mayo. Their greens and noodles are also very good. I also like the duck spring rolls but they can be a little oily. Bill for 2 is usually around $50 but we order a lot. You canā€™t book a table but you can join the queue virtually ā€“ itā€™s never a long wait.

The name says it all. If Swee Choon gets too crowded, Dim Sum Haus is the ideal alternative (which is often). Plus, the cost of owning an XLB is reasonable. For less than $5, you can get a trio of them alongside other dim sum favorites like crispy mee sua kueh with Chinese sausage and steamed rice roll with BBQ pork.

Key Differentiators:

  • Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Quality dim sums at an affordable price
  • Suitable for small and big group gathering

Customer Review

Great dim sum at affordable prices. The must gets include their siew mai, Chee Cheong fun as well as their baked salted egg custard bun. The salted egg was gooey and explodes in your mouth. But when you come, itā€™s okay to skip their cooked dishes and go to the dimsum straight as the fried rice and noodles were nothing to write home about. Overall, amazing experience and definitely will be back.

Itā€™s all about the volume when it comes to these sodden dishes. All of the deliciousness in the minced pork and crab roe soup within Yechun Xiao Jiang Nan Restaurant is contained within a straw. Is it huge? Itā€™s the size of a palm, and there are only one or two pieces! If this sounds frightening, donā€™t worry: you can order the regular-sized XLBs if thatā€™s what you want.

Where can I find the best xiao long bao in Singapore?

There are many restaurants in Singapore that offer xiao long bao dishes. Yechun Xiao Jiang Nan Restaurant at Chinatown Square stands out for its generous portion size and excellent quality xiao long baos, while Zhong Guo La Mian Xiao Long Bao at Chinatown Complex is a Michelin-plate winning establishment with handmade xiao long baos that are popular among locals. Other great places for xiao long baos include Din Tai Fung at Ngee Ann City, You Peng Noodle Dumpling House at Ā Beauty World Centre, and Red Star Restaurant at East Coast Park near Alexandra Village Food Centre.

Do xiao long baos come in different sizes?

Yes, xiao long baos usually come in two sizes ā€“ regular and large. The larger version is often referred to as xiaolong mantou, meaning ā€œsmall steamed bunā€. The larger size has more filling than the regular ones and has a softer texture due to its longer cooking time.

Are there vegetarian options available when ordering xiao long bao?

Yes, many restaurants do offer vegetarian alternatives such as vegetable dumplings with napa cabbage leaves or mushroom xiaolongbao with vegetarian fillings which are suitable for vegetarians as they contain no meat fillings. However it is best to check with each restaurant first before ordering as some establishments may not have these options available on their menu.
