The Original Katong Laksa was founded by Mr Ng Juat Swee, well known as Janggut. Back in the 1940s, he was selling laksa while dragging his pole and metal buckets throughout the Marine Parade beach area. They peddled laksa on a tricycle around the streets where they resided on Marshall Road and in front of the house on Marine Parade beach in the early 1950s.
